Tier to the cloud
This session is on-demand (running time 35 minutes)
The use of the cloud continues to grow, but for many it is not about a wholesale move of systems and applications but a more measured tactical move, using the cloud to do the things that we find difficult to do with our more traditional on-premises infrastructure.
This tactical use allows us to maintain our on-premises environment where appropriate but to then use the scale and flexibility of cloud when we need it.
One area to benefit from this tactical integration of the cloud is data protection. As the amount of data we all hold continues to grow exponentially finding ways to effectively store and archive it so we can keep up with growth while controlling costs is a challenge, however, it's a challenge that public cloud can tackle almost perfectly.
Tactically using the cloud
The scale and flexibility of the cloud makes it a great location to use as part of our data protection strategy but how do we integrate it into our on-premises infrastructure?
In this video, we talk to Veeam Global Technologist Anthony Spiteri as we explore how Veeam is seamlessly integrating the public cloud into their availability suite of products via Cloud Tier.
We review how Veeam Cloud Tier provides unlimited capacity for long-term data retention by using native, cost-effective object storage integrations with Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, IBM Cloud Object Storage, S3-compatible service providers or on-premises storage offerings and how it allows you too.
Leverage the lower cost, simplicity and elasticity of object storage including Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, IBM Cloud Object Storage, S3-compatible service providers or on-premises storage offerings.
Store data in the cloud without any double charges unlike with other backup providers who impose a “cloud tax” on top of the cloud provider’s storage cost.
Avoid vendor lock-in associated with secondary storage appliances.
